Nigel Mansell Collection exits car sales and servicing in Jersey

The Nigel Mansell Collection has parted ways with Hyundai franchise and the Mitsubishi aftersales business in Jersey.

The company said the exit from Mitsubishi was due to the departure of the Japanese brand sales in Europe. It added that the loss of business had a knock-on impact on the Hyundai business.

On its website it said: The Mansell Collection’s Car Sales, Servicing and Parts departments are now closed.

“This has come about due to Mitsubishi’s departure from Europe and two years spent struggling with Covid-19 and a subsequent loss of sales. Unfortunately, losing the brand had a knock on effect with our second car brand, Hyundai.

“We certainly wish Mitsubishi and Hyundai all the best for the future with their new partner in Jersey, and we thank the Car Department for all their hard work over the years.

But while the car business was shutting, its motorcycle business was set to expand.

“We’re excited to be further developing The Mansell Collection on its two wheels, with motorcycle sales, servicing, apparel and various franchises.

“We will be expanding on and improving everything from motorcycle servicing to bringing new brands into The Collection, alongside BMW Motorrad, Triumph Motorcycles, Peugeot, MV Agusta, Moto Morini, Bluroc and Mash.”

Nigel Mansell set up the Mitsubishi business in 2014. His son Leo managed the business. Mansell is chairman of The Mansell Collection dealership which opened in St Helier in 2013.

In 2016 the company opened a new Mitsubishi showroom and a four-bay workshop in Jersey. The opening was attended by 100 guests who took the opportunity to look around the Nigel Mansell Museum, which displays his trophies and race-winning cars.
