Chery aims for annual UK sales of 15,000 with Omoda 5 model

Chinese carmaker Omoda is in discussions with dealers to represent the brand in the UK and retail its Omoda 5 SUV. Sales start in the in Q1, 2024.

The Omodo 5 made its debut at the 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition in April this year.

Omada UK manager Victor Zhang told Motor Trader the car will be priced £24,000 to £28,000.

The first model to debut will feature 1.6-litre Turbo petrol engine producing 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque. An EV variant, the OMODA 5 EV will also be available at launch.

Zhang said Omoda is aiming for 15,000 sales a year from a network of franchised dealers. Further details on dealer names will be revealed later this year and they include national and regional players. “We have a plan. Many are in the discussion period,” he said.

The company is currently establishing its UK business and is looking to set up its HQ in west London.

A suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) will be available as standard, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist and hi-lo beam assist, further enriching the driving experience and safety credentials.
