The December issue of Motor Trader is now online

The December issue of Motor Trader is now online, featuring the exclusive Motor Trader Top 200, which details the financial performance of UK dealer groups.

This new report sees dealers come under pressure with combined pre-tax profits down 26.5% to £677m on turnover up 3.1% to £75.2bn.

Despite the tail off in performance the number of people employed in the sector continues to grow, up 2% to 148,704.

The December issue profiles Cazoo, which launched after a year of preparation and is planning a big advertising campaign in 2020 to drive traffic to its used car website.

The MT Dealer Insight this month looks at Cambria Automobiles, which reported a strong set of results and a strong used car performance in 2009.

In terms of top-end product, the past two years has seen unprecedented investment. The group’s greater exposure to the high-luxury sports car segment has driven the earnings capacity of the group and its used car performance and stock control has come in for praise.

This month also includes coverage of the Motor Trader Summit 2019, which took place at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. The theme of the event was “Boosting Dealer Profitability in 2020” as speakers looked at best practice in new and used car retailing, online marketing and e-commerce.

And we look at the plans Lotus has to expand its business in the UK, seeking to fill key open points.
