Dealer groups situated in the South East and retailers of prestige and exotic cars are the top payers in the business, according to the latest MT Top 200 Dealer Groups.
Park Lane BMW is the top payer with an average salary of £47,236 per annum. This is some 61% higher than the weighted average of £29,251 for the 171 groups where full details were disclosed.
Luxury car retailers HR Owen was in second place with an average salary of £41,179 while Broad Oak Motor Group was I third position with an average salary of £40,046.
Other dealer groups to feature in the top 10 listing included jemca, Glyn Hopkin, L&L, the factory owned Porche Retil Group and TC Harrison.
The report’s compilers noted the strong performance of TC Harrison, which stood out, given its location in the Midlands and its franchises.
Analysis of the Top 200 Dealer Groups also revealed that dealers are employing more people than a year ago.
“The 160 groups which were in both last year’s and this year’s MT Top 200 surveys (omitting old accounts and estimates) increased the numbers employed by nearly 6,000 year on year or 4.9%.
